講義概要 This course introduces the basic concepts, theories, and issues in the field of International Relations, paying particular attention to the recent effects of globalization on world politics. This class will be conducted by using a combination of interactive lectures, class discussions, and student group presentations on various global issues.

試験・評価方法 Class Participation and Quizzes (30%): Assessed via individual written response on understanding the lectures. Group Presentation (20%): Assessed on quality of research and presentation. Formal Response Paper 1 (20%): Assessed on quality of summary and critical engagement. In-class Final Exam (30%)

その他特記事項 【学習到達目標】
This course has three aims: 1.to broaden students' knowledge and
understanding of international relations; 2.to acquaint students with the role of Japan and themselves within world politics; 3.to give students the analytical skills needed to research and examine global issues in English.

【履修上の注意】
This course requires students’ active participation and collaborative work. Therefore, weekly participation is required. Students are responsible both for attending each class session and for participating in lively and informed discussions and debates. If they miss five classes, they automatically fail the course.

Please complete reading the assigned readings before coming to class. There is a quiz at the beginning of each class. After each session, please download the PowerPoint slides that are used for the lecture for your own review.
